ACA Exchange Open for Business Despite the Government Shutdown

The current shutdown is the first government shutdown the United States has had in 17 years, mainly due to disagreements relating to financing the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  As some may or may not know, under ACA, states have the option to either default to the federal exchange or create their own state-run exchange.  Virginia opted to default to the federal exchange, while Maryland and the District of Columbia opted to create their own state-run exchanges.  For more information on how to stay up to date with the ACA and the exchanges of other states please be sure to read this week’s thought piece.
